About Me

To Readers, Parents, Educators, and Dreamers:

It is my mission as a children's author and educator to bring engaging, curious, and thoughtful texts to young readers and their families.

As our children grow and learn, understanding themselves and others and being able to relate self to others are key components for developing emotional intelligence, awareness, and lifelong compassion.

Characters should look like us, talk like us, and make friends like we do.

Stories should often nod to: "Hey! That's like me!" and "Oh, wow, I know that feeling..."

And parents should feel a special comfort in guiding these conversations about ourselves and others through the use of meaningful story time that is easy and fun to read--and gorgeously illustrated!

Whether we are lifelong friends or new reading companions, I cannot thank you enough for the love you have for this mission.

But, what about outside of story time? What some may not know about me is how much my love for stories has fueled my passions in education, while simultaneously I soak up everything I can as an Emotional Learning and Executive Functioning fanatic to pour that into great stories for kids. One does not exist without the other and so, too, both my books and my coaching content will now live together on this site!

I look forward to the launch of my blog: The Ebb, where I will share tidbits from a coaching/parenting perspective, provide quick Tips for Emotional Regulation or an Executive Functioning Skill, interact with educators tying strategies into classroom management and behavior intervention, keep you updated on where I am working LIVE with learners and readers in Florida, and of course  bringing you updates and announcements on my writing and publishing.

The future is so bright for Tides Learning and all of the ways parents, children, and teachers are supported. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Love,

A Welcome Letter, from my Heart

Hi, readers! I am Tabitha, and here are 5 things you should know about me:

1. I am a lifelong educator! I have worked in classrooms all over Florida, from brick-and-mortar to virtual to private coaching. I have taught high school English and spent the better part of my formal educator's career supporting learners, their families, and their classrooms through positive behavior supports, executive function coaching, and social-emotional learning.

2. I have a Golden Retriever named Kai, and he is my favorite co-worker!

3. My books are 100% influenced by and in honor of my two sweet sons-Knox and Mason. Understanding our individual ways of learning, thinking, feeling, and expressing ourselves, and supporting that power in my children, is my truest joy as a parent.

4. My favorite children's books are A color of his own by Leo Leonni, The Very Busy Spider  by Eric Carle, and anything in the Good Night, Good Night Construction Site series.

5. I love running, writing, lattes, and the ocean!

Tabitha
